The theme of the contest was "Where Dreams Grow", which embraces a wide range of "dreams" that comes with the cultural diversity enriching our state. Justin Aragon, who depicted California farmlands and cultural diversity as shown on the leftmost photo, won first place. Mark Fahey, Becky's Flowers head designer, top right photo, won second place. Mark created a fantastical woodsy piece that spotlighted the California poppy. Shelley Vasquez, bottom right, also participated in the contest with high marks. Shelley presented a piece with a rainbow over the State Capitol building, and expressed her views on agribusiness issues. Congratulations to all three!

March 24, 2011 - Becky's Flowers hosted students from Challenge High School, a division of Woodcreek High School in Roseville, CA. The class field-trip was one among others on the "gardening series", put together by Mary Shisler. Chaperoned by 4 other volunteers and teachers, the students took a tour of the flower shop and watched a floral arranging demonstration of one of the designers, Awyn Dobbs. It was a nice midday break for the Becky's Flowers employees and everyone seemed to have fun. The other volunteers and teachers who chaperoned the students were June Hedges, Cody Holliday, Michele Kaiser and Bob Wills. Thanks for the visit!
